Carnitas
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pork
In a slow cooker, combine the pork shoulder, orange juice, lime juice, garlic cloves, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- 2
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Shred the pork using two forks.
- 3
Sauté for Crispiness
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the shredded pork and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the edges are crispy.
- 4
Prepare the Tacos
Warm the corn tortillas in a separate skillet or on a griddle. Fill each tortilla with the crispy carnitas, diced onion, and fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
