Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Applewood Smoked Butter

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, add the applewood chips to the butter and let it infuse for about 15 minutes. Strain the butter to remove the chips and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Biscuit Dough

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the infused applewood smoked butter along with the buttermilk. Mix until just combined.

  3. 3

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it 2-3 times until it comes together. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter or a glass and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
