Method
Preparing the Frites
- 1
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to resemble fries.
- 2
- 3
Dry the Potatoes
After soaking, drain the water and pat the potato strips dry using a clean kitchen towel.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add the dried potato strips to the hot oil in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
- 6
Drain and Season
Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt to taste.
Cooking the Steak
- 7
Season the Steak
Pat the ribeye steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
- 8
- 9
Sear the Steak
Add the seasoned steaks to the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving them to achieve a nice crust.

- 11
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.
