Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Bacon
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

Slice the Bread
Cut the French bread in half lengthwise and place it on a baking sheet.

Prepare the Tomato
Slice the medium tomato into thin slices and set aside.

Add Milk
Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue to cook, whisking constantly, until the sauce thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

Add Cheese and Seasoning
Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the Gruyère cheese until melted. Season with nutmeg, salt, and black pepper to taste.
Assembly

Layer the Ingredients
On each half of the French bread, layer the roasted turkey breast, tomato slices, and crumbled bacon.

Add Mornay Sauce
Spoon the Mornay sauce generously over the turkey and bacon layers.

Top with Cheddar Cheese
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the sauce.
Baking

Bake the Hot Brown
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
