Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until well blended.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

  5. 5

    Pour into Pans

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, remove from pans and let cool completely on a wire rack.

Frosting Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, beating until smooth and creamy.

  2. 9

    Add Vanilla

Mix in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

  3. 10

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top. Place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
