Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making them slightly larger than the burger buns to account for shrinkage during cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip them and place a slice of cheddar cheese on top. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and lightly toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 5

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese. Slice the tomato and place a few slices on top of the cheese. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 6

    Serve

Serve the cheeseburgers immediately while hot, with your favorite side dishes.
