Prepare the Patty

Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick.

Chill the Patties
Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.
Prepare the Toppings

Wash and Prepare Lettuce
Rinse the lettuce leaves under cold water, then pat dry with a paper towel. Tear into smaller pieces if necessary.

Slice the Tomato
Cut the large tomato into thick slices.

Peel the onion and cut it into thin rings.

Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slice, and onion rings.
