Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Onion Strings

Slice the onion into thin rings. In a bowl, soak the onion rings in buttermilk for about 30 minutes. In another bowl, mix the flour, salt, and black pepper. Remove the onion rings from the buttermilk and dredge them in the flour mixture to coat evenly.

  2. 2

    Fry the Onion Strings

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the coated onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  3. 3

    Cook the Angus Beef Patty

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Season the Angus beef patty with salt and black pepper. Grill or cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, adding the cheddar cheese slices on top during the last minute to melt.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Burger

Toast the burger bun if desired. Place the grilled Angus beef patty with melted cheddar on the bottom half of the bun. Top with the crispy onion strings. Choose your sauce (Honey Chipotle BBQ, Hickory BBQ, or Bourbon BBQ) and drizzle it over the onions. Add the top half of the bun and serve.
