Dough Preparation
1. Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
2. Mix Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
3. Knead Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
5. Cook Filling
In a skillet over medium heat, add chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
6. Add Beef and Vegetables
Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned. Stir in bell pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
7. Add Cheese
Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted and well combined.
Assembly and Baking
8. Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
9. Shape Buns
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten slightly. Place a spoonful of filling in the center and fold the dough over to seal.
10. Place on Baking Sheet
Place the buns seam-side down on a greased baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
11. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
12. Cool and Serve
Remove the buns from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Buns Dorl!
