Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Ingredients
Chop the iceberg lettuce, slice the onion, and prepare the pickles.
- 2
Form the Patties
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions (about 8 ounces each) and gently shape them into balls without overworking the meat.
- 3
- 4
Cook the Patties
Place the beef balls on the hot surface. Using a spatula, smash each ball down to about 1/2 inch thick. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until a crust forms, then flip.

Add Cheese
Immediately place two slices of American cheese on each patty after flipping. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted.
- 6
Assemble the Smashburger
Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom half of the burger buns. Layer with smashed patties, lettuce, pickles, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve
Cut the burger in half if desired and serve immediately with your favorite side.
