Candied Yams Ingredients

Method

Candied Yams Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Yams

Peel the yams and cut them into 1-inch thick slices. Place them in a large pot and cover with water.

  2. 2

    Boil the Yams

Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook the yams for about 10-15 minutes or until they are just tender. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Candied Sauce

In a large saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, salt, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar and butter are dissolved.

  4. 4

    Combine and Bake

Add the drained yams to the saucepan with the candied sauce. Stir gently to coat the yams. Transfer everything to a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, until the yams are caramelized and tender.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious candied yams!
