Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all the ingredients. If desired, prepare any optional toppings such as sour cream, salsa, green onions, or jalapeños.

Heat the Pan
Place a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat and allow it to warm up for about 2 minutes.

Assemble the Quesadilla
Place the tortilla on the skillet. Evenly sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheese over half of the tortilla. If using, add any desired optional ingredients such as jalapeños or green onions on top of the cheese.

Fold and Cook
Carefully fold the tortilla in half over the cheese. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.

Flip and Finish Cooking
Gently flip the quesadilla using a spatula. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until it is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.

Slice and Serve
Remove the quesadilla from the pan and let it cool for a minute. Cut into 4 equal slices with a pizza cutter or sharp knife. Serve warm with optional sour cream and salsa on the side.
