Tempura Fried Spicy Crab Roll
Preparation and Cooking
1. Prepare the Sushi Rice
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool.
2. Make the Spicy Crab Mix
In a bowl, mix the crab meat, cream cheese, and finely chopped jalapeño until well combined.
3. Assemble the Rolls
Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread a layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about 1 inch at the top. Place a line of the spicy crab mix and a slice of avocado in the center. Roll tightly using the mat, sealing the edge with a bit of water.
4. Tempura Fry the Rolls
In a bowl, mix the tempura batter with cold water according to package instructions. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Cut the sushi roll into bite-sized pieces, dip each piece into the tempura batter, and fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
5. Serve
Drizzle with sweet chili sauce and serve hot.
