Cheese Dip
Tortilla Chips
Method
Cheese Dip
- 1
Prepare the Cheese Base
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, and monterey jack cheese. Mix until well combined and smooth.
- 2
Add Creamy Ingredients
Stir in the sour cream until fully incorporated into the cheese mixture.
- 3
Season the Dip
Add the diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper to the cheese mixture. Mix well until evenly distributed.
- 4
Heat the Dip
Transfer the mixture to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, until the cheeses are melted and the dip is warm and bubbly, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Serve
Remove from heat and transfer the cheese dip to a serving bowl. Serve warm with tortilla chips.
Tortilla Chips
- 6
Prepare the Tortillas
Cut each corn tortilla into 6 wedges to create triangle shapes.
- 7
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 8
Fry the Chips
Carefully add a few tortilla wedges to the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 9
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still hot.
- 10
Repeat
Continue frying the remaining tortilla wedges in batches until all are crisp and golden.
