Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and prepare 4 ramekins by buttering them and dusting with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar and the eggs until they are light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Gently fold the mixture until just combined.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains soft.

  3. 8

    Cool

Remove from the oven and let the fondants cool for 1 minute before inverting them onto plates.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Warm

Dust the warm chocolate fondants with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and fresh berries on the side.
