Method
Preparation of Bread
- 1
Slice the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette or Italian bread into 1/2-inch thick slices.
- 2
Toast the Bread
Place the sliced bread on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Remove from oven and set aside.
Preparation of Topping
- 3
Chop the Tomatoes
Dice the fresh tomatoes and place them in a mixing bowl.
- 4
Chop the Basil
Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes.
- 5
Prepare the Garlic
Mince the garlic cloves and add to the bowl.
- 6
Combine Topping Ingredients
Add olive oil, salt, and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Gently toss until all ingredients are well combined.
Balsamic Reduction
- 7
Prepare Balsamic Reduction
In a small saucepan, bring the balsamic vinegar to a simmer over medium heat. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until it thickens to a syrupy consistency. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Assembly
- 8
Assemble Bruschetta
Top each toasted slice of bread with a generous spoonful of the tomato mixture. Drizzle with the balsamic reduction just before serving.
- 9
Serve
Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and enjoy immediately.
