Method
Preparing the Patty
- 1
Grind the Steak Trimmings
Using a meat grinder, grind the USDA Choice steak trimmings until finely minced. This will create a juicy and flavorful burger patty.
- 2
Season the Meat
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground steak with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
- 3
Form the Patties
Divide the seasoned meat into two equal portions (8 ounces each) and shape them into round patties, making a slight indentation in the center for even cooking.
Grilling the Burger
- 4
Preheat the Grill
Heat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F or 200°C) for optimal cooking.
- 5
Cook the Patties
Place the formed patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness.
Assembling the Burger
- 6
Prepare the Buns
While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. You can toast them on the grill for a crispy texture.
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
Once the patties are cooked, place each patty on the bottom half of a bun. Top with sliced tomato, onion, and pickles. Cover with the top half of the bun.
