Salad Base

Method

Preparation of Salad Base

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop Romaine

Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water. Shake off excess water and chop into bite-sized pieces. Place in a large salad bowl.

Making Caesar Dressing

  1. 2

    Prepare the Dressing

In a medium bowl, finely chop the garlic and anchovy fillets. Add the Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Whisk together until well combined.

  2. 3

    Incorporate Olive Oil

Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while continuously whisking to emulsify the dressing. Once combined, stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until smooth.

Making Croutons

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cut the bread slices into cubes.

  2. 5

    Season and Bake

In a bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Spread the seasoned cubes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden and crispy, turning halfway through.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Combine and Serve

Pour the Caesar dressing over the chopped romaine lettuce and toss well to coat. Top with croutons and additional grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately.
