Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes and Broth
Pour in the canned whole tomatoes (with their juice) and the vegetable broth. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Soup
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.

Add Basil
Stir in the fresh basil leaves and let the soup simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Blend the Soup
Using an immersion blender or a regular blender, carefully puree the soup until smooth.

Add Cream
Return the soup to the pot (if using a regular blender) and stir in the heavy cream. Heat gently until warm.

Season
Season the soup with salt and black pepper to taste.

Prepare the Bread
Slice the crusty bread into thick slices. You can toast them if desired, but it is optional.
