Dulce de Leche

Drip Coffee

Method

Dulce de Leche Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dulce de Leche

In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk and baking soda. Stir well to combine. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly for about 1-1.5 hours until the mixture thickens and turns a caramel color. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let cool slightly before using.

Coffee Preparation

  1. 2

    Brew the Drip Coffee

In a coffee maker, place the coffee grounds in the filter. Pour 4 cups of water into the reservoir and brew according to your coffee maker's instructions. Once brewed, set aside.

Whipped Cream Preparation

  1. 3

    Make the Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or stand mixer, whip the mixture on medium-high speed until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.

Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Caramelo Malcriado

In a large mug, add 2-3 tablespoons of the prepared dulce de leche. Pour the hot drip coffee over the dulce de leche and stir until well combined. Top with a generous dollop of whipped cream. Optionally, drizzle extra dulce de leche on top of the whipped cream for added flavor. Serve immediately.
