Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sauce

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until softened.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic and Meat

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ground veal, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Liquids

Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, scraping any bits off the bottom of the pan. Then add the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, oregano, salt, and pepper.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook uncovered for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. The longer it simmers, the better the flavor.

  5. 5

    Cook the Spaghetti

While the sauce is simmering, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  6. 6

    Combine and Serve

Once the sauce has thickened, stir in the fresh basil. Serve the sauce over the cooked spaghetti and top with grated Parmesan cheese to taste.
