Method

Making Gnocchi

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and let cool slightly. Peel and mash the potatoes.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms. Knead gently until smooth.

  3. 3

    Shape the Gnocchi

Divide the dough into pieces and roll each piece into a long rope. Cut into 2 cm pieces and shape with a fork if desired.

  4. 4

    Cook the Gnocchi

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Drop in the gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon.

Making Meat Sauce

  1. 5

    Sauté Aromatics

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sauté until translucent.

  2. 6

    Cook the Meat

Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

  3. 7

    Add Sauce

Stir in tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Making Cream Sauce

  1. 8

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan, combine heavy cream, Fontina cheese, Parmesan cheese, and salt over low heat. Stir until cheese melts and sauce thickens.

Assembly

  1. 9

    Combine Everything

In a large serving bowl, mix the cooked gnocchi with the meat sauce. Drizzle the cream sauce on top and serve immediately.
