Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Pasta

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Sauce

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Cook the Shrimp

In a separate skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt and pepper. Add shrimp to the skillet and cook until pink and opaque, about 2-3 minutes per side. Carefully add the cognac and flambe (ignite) to enhance the flavor, then remove from heat.

  4. 4

    Combine

Add the cooked shrimp to the tomato sauce along with the fresh basil. Stir to combine and let simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the spicy shrimp and sauce over the cooked pasta. Garnish with more fresh basil if desired.
