Kalua Pork

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with Hawaiian sea salt and drizzle liquid smoke over it. Place in a slow cooker and cook on low for about 10-12 hours until the meat is tender and shreddable.

  2. 2

    Make the Slaw

In a bowl, mix coleslaw mix with mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, and a pinch of salt. Adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once the pork is cooked, remove it from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Mix the shredded pork with Hawaiian BBQ sauce until well coated.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Sandwich

Toast the sandwich buns. On the bottom half of each bun, add a generous portion of the BBQ pork, followed by a scoop of coleslaw. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
