Prepare the Oven and Pan
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until well combined and slightly frothy.

Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the cocoa powder and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.

Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft.

Cool and Serve
Remove the torte from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Invert onto a serving plate, remove parchment paper, and let it cool completely before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries if desired.
