Combine Base Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Add Shredded Coconut (Optional)
If using, stir in the shredded coconut into the mixture for added texture and flavor.
Churning

Chill the Mixture
Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or until it's completely chilled.

Churn in Ice Cream Maker
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically for about 20-25 minutes, or until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freezing

Transfer and Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container. If desired, sprinkle some coconut flakes on top for garnish. Seal the container and place it in the freezer for at least 4 hours or until firm.
