Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Almonds

Place the raw almonds in a bowl and cover them with 2 cups of water. Allow them to soak for at least 8 hours or overnight to soften them.

  2. 2

    Drain and Rinse

After soaking, drain the almonds and rinse them under cool running water to remove any residue.

Blending

  1. 3

    Blend the Ingredients

In a blender, combine the soaked almonds and 4 cups of fresh water. If using, add the vanilla extract, maple syrup, and a pinch of salt. Blend on high speed for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Straining

  1. 4

    Strain the Almond Milk

Place a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended almond mixture into the strainer and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the liquid to pass through.

  2. 5

    Squeeze Out Excess Liquid

Gather the edges of the nut milk bag or cheesecloth and twist to squeeze out as much almond milk as possible. Discard the almond pulp or save it for other recipes.

Storage

  1. 6

    Store the Almond Milk

Transfer the strained almond milk to a clean glass bottle or jar. Seal tightly and refrigerate. Shake well before using, as it may separate over time.
