Method

Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Add Butter

Cut the unsalted butter into small pieces and add it to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  3. 3

    Combine with Milk

Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.

  4. 4

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick rectangle. Cut into rounds using a biscuit cutter.

  5. 5

    Bake

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Allow the biscuits to cool slightly before serving with your choice of jam.
