Preparation Instructions
1. Prepare the Sushi Rice
Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool to room temperature.
2. Prepare the Vegetables
Julienne the cucumber, avocado, carrot, and red bell pepper into thin strips.
3. Assemble the Makimono
Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Spread an even layer of sushi rice on the nori, leaving a 1-inch border at the top. Layer the julienned vegetables horizontally across the rice.
4. Roll the Makimono
Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to keep the roll tight. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
5. Slice and Serve
Use a sharp knife to slice the roll into bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top, and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
