Ingredients for Cooked Special Rolls

Method

Directions for Cooking Special Rolls

  1. 1

    Prepare Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions, typically using a rice cooker or on the stovetop. Once cooked, let it cool slightly and season with rice vinegar.

  2. 2

    Prepare Fillings

While the rice is cooling, prepare your fillings. Dice the cucumber and avocado, and shred the imitation crab meat. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Rolls

Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top edge free of rice.

  4. 4

    Add Fillings

Place a line of cooked shrimp, imitation crab meat, cream cheese, cucumber, and avocado across the center of the rice-covered nori.

  5. 5

    Roll the Sushi

Using the bamboo mat, carefully roll the sushi away from you, applying gentle pressure to keep the roll tight. Seal the edge with a little water.

  6. 6

    Slice the Rolls

Using a sharp knife, slice the roll into 6-8 pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts to keep the edges clean.

  7. 7

    Serve

Arrange the sushi rolls on a platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.
