Rinse the Rice
In a fine mesh strainer, rinse the long-grain white rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Simmer the Rice
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.

Sauté the Onion and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Garlic and Turmeric
Add the minced garlic and turmeric powder to the skillet. Stir and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Season the Rice
Season the rice with salt and black pepper to taste. Stir again to mix the seasoning evenly throughout.
