Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ribeye Steak

Season the ribeye steak with salt and black pepper. Allow it to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking.

  2. 2

    Slice the Vegetables

Thinly slice the onion and tomato. Shred the lettuce and set all the vegetables aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Garlic Sauce

If using store-bought garlic sauce, measure it out. If making homemade, combine minced garlic, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt in a bowl.

Cooking the Steak

  1. 4

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 5

    Cook the Steak

Add the ribeye steak to the pan and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached. Remove from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Caramelize the Onion

In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook over medium heat until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Assembling the Gyro

  1. 7

    Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the ribeye steak thinly against the grain.

  2. 8

    Melt the Cheese

Place shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sliced steak in the skillet and cover with a lid until melted, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 9

    Assemble the Gyros

Warm the pita bread in a clean skillet or microwave. Layer the lettuce, tomato, caramelized onion, and the steak with melted mozzarella on top. Drizzle garlic sauce generously over the filling.

Serving

  1. 10

    Serve the Gyros

Fold the pita bread over the filling and serve immediately, with extra garlic sauce on the side if desired.
