Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Make the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assembling and Baking
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) to ensure it's hot enough for baking.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle.
- 7
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the base, leaving a small border. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- 8
Add Pepperoni and Oregano
Layer the pepperoni slices evenly over the cheese. Sprinkle Greek oregano on top for added flavor.
- 9
Bake the Pizza
Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into wedges and serve hot.
