Baking Instructions
Prepare the Oven and Pans
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour four 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Incorporate Boiling Water
Carefully stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.
Bake the Cake Layers
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the Layers
Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and cool completely on wire racks.
Make the Frosting
In a large bowl, beat together cocoa powder, softened butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
Assemble the Cake
Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of frosting on top, and repeat with the remaining layers. Frost the top and sides of the cake.
Serve
Slice and serve the cake. Enjoy!
