Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.

  2. 2

    Add Salt

Once the water is boiling, add 1 tsp of salt to the water.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pasta

Add 2 cups of mostaccioli pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, typically about 8-10 minutes, until al dente.

  4. 4

    Drain and Set Aside

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making the Sauce

  1. 5

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Sauté Garlic

Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Pour in 1 can of crushed tomatoes, 1 tsp of Italian seasoning, 1 tsp of salt, and 1 tsp of black pepper. Stir well.

  4. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
