Method

Taco Filling

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 2

    Add Onion and Garlic

Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onions are translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. 3

    Season the Beef

Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture thickens, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Add Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted. Set aside.

Rice

  1. 5

    Rinse the Rice

Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear.

  2. 6

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  3. 7

    Simmer and Fluff

Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes until water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.

Taco Assembly

  1. 8

    Prepare Taco Shells

Warm the soft taco shells in the microwave or on a skillet until pliable.

  2. 9

    Fill Tacos

Spoon the beef and cheese mixture into each taco shell.

  3. 10

    Add Toppings

Top each taco with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and salsa as desired.

  4. 11

    Serve

Serve the tacos with a side of fluffy rice. Enjoy your meal!
