Preparing the Proteins
- 1
Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat, then season with salt, pepper, cumin, chili powder, and garlic powder. Set aside.
- 2
Shredded Beef
For shredded beef, cook 1 lb of beef in a slow cooker with some water, salt, and spices on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours. Shred the beef with forks once cooked and set aside.
- 3
Chicken
Cook 1 lb of chicken breast in a skillet with olive oil over medium heat for about 6-7 minutes per side or until fully cooked. Season with salt, pepper, and spices. Shred or dice the chicken and set aside.
- 4
Pork Chile
Cook 1 lb of pork chile in a slow cooker with seasoning and some liquid (broth or water) on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until tender. Shred the pork and set aside.
Assembling the Burritos
- 5
Prepare Tortillas
Warm the flour tortillas in a skillet or microwave for about 30 seconds until pliable.
- 6
Fill Tortillas
Place a tortilla on a flat surface, add a portion of your choice of filling (beans, beef, chicken, or pork) in the center, followed by cheese, lettuce, diced tomato, and a dollop of sour cream and salsa.
- 7
Roll Burritos
Fold the sides of the tortilla inward and then roll it from the bottom to enclose the filling completely. Ensure it's tightly rolled.
- 8
Serve
Place the rolled burritos on a plate. You can serve them with extra salsa and sour cream on the side.
