Prepare the Breading
In a large bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Set aside.

Coat the Fish
Dip each fish fillet into the egg wash, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture to coat evenly. Place coated fillets on a tray.

Heat the Oil
In a large, heavy-bottomed skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Fish
Working in batches, carefully place the coated fish fillets into the hot oil. Fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

Serve the fried fish hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
