Pklala (krain krain) is an authentic African soups. Served with a choice of tilapia fish, chicken or beef. All served.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent. Add minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they break down and form a sauce, about 5-7 minutes. Add salt, black pepper, and chili powder to the mixture, stirring well.
Pour in the chicken or beef stock, bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
At this point, add your choice of tilapia fish, chicken, or beef to the soup. Continue to simmer until the protein is cooked through, about 10-15 minutes depending on your choice.
Once the protein is cooked, taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, accompanied by a side of your choice, such as rice or bread.
