Empanada Filling

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine the diced ham, diced pineapple, and shredded cheese. Add salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Dough

Use pre-made empanada dough or make your own by mixing flour, water, and salt until a smooth dough forms. Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness and cut into circles.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Empanadas

Place a spoonful of the filling mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal. You can crimp the edges with a fork for a decorative touch.

  4. 4

    Cook the Empanadas

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the empanadas for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Alternatively, you can bake them in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes.

  5. 5

    Serve

Allow the empanadas to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
