Cooking Pasta
- 1
Boil the Pasta
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt and the pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water for later use.
Preparing Vegetables
- 3
Chop Vegetables
While the pasta is cooking, wash and chop the bell peppers, zucchini, carrots, and broccoli into bite-sized pieces.
- 4
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then add the chopped vegetables and sauté for 5-7 minutes until they are tender but still crisp.
- 5
Add Cherry Tomatoes
Add cherry tomatoes and red pepper flakes to the skillet, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes are slightly softened.
Combining Ingredients
- 6
Mix Pasta with Vegetables
Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sautéed vegetables. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time to help combine.
- 7
Finish with Cheese and Basil
Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil. Season with black pepper to taste.
Serving
- 8
Plate the Dish
Serve the Pasta Primavera warm, garnished with additional Parmesan cheese and fresh basil if desired.
