Method

Frying Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

In a small saucepan, heat the whole milk, water, and unsalted butter over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is warm (about 110°F or 43°C). Remove from heat.

  3. 3

Add the warm milk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

  4. 4

Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and then incorporate them into the dough mixture until smooth.

  5. 5

Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.

  6. 6

    Shape the Donuts

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Transfer to a floured surface and roll out to about 1/2 inch thickness.

  7. 7

Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donuts and holes. Reroll scraps as needed.

  8. 8

    Fry the Donuts

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  9. 9

Carefully place a few donuts in the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.

  10. 10

Remove the donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining donuts.

  11. 11

    Finish the Donuts

In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar with vanilla extract and a little water to make a glaze. Dip each donut into the glaze or sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  12. 12

Serve warm and enjoy your freshly fried donuts!
