Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that your banana bread bakes evenly.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Loaf Pan

Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mixing the Ingredients

  1. 3

    Mash the Bananas

In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. You should have about 1.5 to 2 cups of mashed bananas.

  2. 4

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix well until everything is combined.

  3. 5

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon until evenly mixed.

  4. 6

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 7

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, gently fold in chopped walnuts and/or chocolate chips into the batter.

Baking

  1. 8

    Pour into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  2. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  3. 10

    Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
