Method
Pasta Preparation
- 1
Cook the Fettuccini
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccini and cook according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- 2
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the fettuccini in a colander. Set aside.
Sauce Preparation
- 3
Melt Butter
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it is fully melted and starts to bubble.
- 4
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
- 5
Add Heavy Cream
Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently to combine with the butter and garlic.
- 6
Incorporate Cheese
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- 7
Season the Sauce
Add black pepper and nutmeg to the sauce, stirring to combine. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained fettuccini to the skillet with the sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if the sauce is too thick.
Serving
- 9
Garnish and Serve
Serve the Fettuccini Alfredo immediately, garnished with chopped parsley. Enjoy!
