Salad Base
Caesar Dressing
Method
Preparation of Salad Base
- 1
Wash and Chop Romaine Lettuce
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt or debris. Pat dry with a clean towel or use a salad spinner. Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place it in a large salad bowl.
- 2
Grate Parmesan Cheese
Using a grater, finely grate the parmesan cheese and set aside. You can also use pre-grated cheese if preferred.
- 3
Preparation of Caesar Dressing
- 4
Make the Dressing
In a small bowl, mash the anchovy fillets and minced garlic cloves together using a fork until a paste forms. Add the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce; mix well.
- 5
Emulsify the Dressing
While whisking constantly, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until the mixture is well combined and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
Combine and Serve
- 6
Assemble the Salad
In the large bowl with the chopped romaine lettuce, add the grated parmesan cheese and croutons.
- 7
Dress the Salad
Drizzle the prepared Caesar dressing over the salad. Toss gently to combine, ensuring that the lettuce is evenly coated with the dressing.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately in individual bowls or plates, garnished with additional parmesan cheese if desired.
