Preparation

Prepare the Patties

1. Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently using your hands until well incorporated.

2. Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal parts and shape each part into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Patties

3. Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Heat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.

4. Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip them over.

5. Add Cheese

After flipping, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cook for another 3-4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burgers

6. Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

7. Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste before placing the top half of the bun.
