Ingredients

Burger Patties

Toppings

Buns

Preparation

Prepare Burger Patties

1. Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently without overworking the meat to avoid tough burgers. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties.

2. Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Prepare Toppings

3. Prepare the Vegetables

Wash the lettuce leaves and pat them dry. Slice the tomato into even rounds. Set aside the pickles.

4. Condiments

Set out ketchup and mustard for individual preferences.

Assemble the Burgers

5. Toast the Buns

If desired, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

6. Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a cheesy patty, tomato slices, pickles, and desired amounts of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve

7. Presentation

Serve the assembled burgers on plates with your choice of sides like fries or a salad.
