Method

Fried Green Tomatoes

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tomatoes

Wash the green tomatoes and slice them into 1/2 inch thick slices. Sprinkle salt on both sides and let them sit for about 10 minutes to draw out moisture.

  2. 2

    Set Up the Breading Station

In one bowl, place the all-purpose flour mixed with black pepper, cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk. In a third bowl, place the cornmeal.

  3. 3

    Bread the Tomatoes

Dredge each tomato slice in the flour mixture, then dip into the buttermilk, and finally coat with cornmeal evenly.

  4. 4

    Fry the Tomatoes

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the breaded tomato slices in the oil and fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

House Made Pimento Cheese

  1. 5

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, pimentos, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

  2. 6

    Blend Until Smooth

Using a hand mixer or a whisk, blend the ingredients until well combined and smooth. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

8595 Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, mayonnaise, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder until smooth.

  2. 8

    Adjust Flavor

Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional hot sauce or garlic powder if desired.
