Flatbread Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center, pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Preheat Stone

If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven and preheat to 475°F (245°C). Allow at least 30 minutes for the stone to heat.

  6. 6

    Shape the Flatbreads

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle or oval shape.

  7. 7

    Bake the Flatbreads

Carefully place each flatbread on the hot stone and bake for about 5-7 minutes or until puffed and lightly browned.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove the flatbreads from the oven, let them cool slightly, and serve warm. Enjoy with dips or toppings of your choice.
