Flatbread Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and sea salt. Whisk to combine.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your stone oven or a regular oven to 475°F (245°C).

  7. 7

    Shape the Flatbreads

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a flat disc about 1/4 inch thick.

  8. 8

    Bake the Flatbreads

Place the flatbreads on a preheated stone or baking sheet and bake for about 4-6 minutes until they puff up and are lightly golden.

  9. 9

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with your choice of dips or toppings.
